Former Austin DE takes Williamson County post

06/26/2009

In a move to reduce consultant fees, cost-conscious Williamson County officials hired recently retired Austin District Engineer Bob Daigh as their infrastructure chief starting in September.  The job is newly created to take advantage of his expertise in highway planning and construction.

Daigh, who worked previously as director of TxDOT's Turnpike Authority Division prior to assuming his Austin DE job, presided over a multi-year effort to create all three TxDOT Austin area toll roads. He also worked with the Central Texas Regional Mobility Authority to create their sole toll road to date, US 183A.

His new job will be to assure Williamson County's road program effectively uses bonds already issued, pass through toll money and coordinate a 2011 bond election to create and execute road construction projects.

Daigh, stepped down from his TxDOT job on April 30, after six years directing the activities of the 11-county district which includes Williamson County.
