Texans interested in the department’s ongoing effort to address mobility from the Rio Grande to the Arkansas/Louisiana state line have let their voices be heard.
The official comment period for the I-69/TTC draft environmental impact statement ended April 18 with more than 17,500 comments submitted.Texas Department of Transportation officials established several means for public input. Most Texans sent their comments through direct mail or went on record at the 47 public hearings held along the corridor. Others chose to submit comments on-line.
The department will evaluate the comments in order to prepare a final environmental impact statement. The report will then be sent to the Federal Highway Administration for approval. This work could be completed in early 2009.
